NOTHING NEW / Japan

Four horror shorts by four new directors, 「犬」(Natsuki Nakagawa), 「Rat Tat Tat」(Keisuke Sakuma), 「洗浄」(Takuya Miyahara), 「void」(Yusuke Iwasaki), each paired with a lead actor. 2024, 81 minutes. Released first on the midnight-only “film vending machine”, then theatrically at Shimokitazawa K2 where it sold out every screening for two weeks on word of mouth; extended to White Cine Quinto Shibuya, then Osaka, Kyoto and nationally, and revived four times since. Noted at the international film festival rotterdam. Deliberately not streamed, the makers want it seen in cinemas.
