Thai film director, producer, screenwriter and cinematographer (1908–1970), regarded as the father of contemporary Thai film. Studied engineering at the University of London after showing an early aptitude for dismantling and reassembling cameras. Though his filmography was brief, his films put Thai cinema on the world stage, and he was among the first Thai directors to use 35mm film. Won Best Cinematography at the Asia Pacific Film Festival in 1954 for 'Santi-Vina'. Died while giving a speech to government officials calling for support of a domestic industry he saw as threatened by Hollywood.
